I needed a bird name for my story, so I googled: common birds of London during war time. Starlings was the answer. I couldn’t think of a more poetic bird name to include in a story.

There is a week until Kid Lit Vic, the conference I am taking both my Illustrations and stories to in hopes they find the perfect home. I’m tired, If I’m very honest. I’ve been on this path for a few years, now, and there is always the hope that this may be the year. There is a sort of crack that appears in the creative heart, at times. Resilience is the gift it gives birth to.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to pick up my printed portfolio from the printers. Seeing my art in print is the most beautiful feeling in the world. I often wonder: if it feels so lovely to see my art on business cards, post cards and other forms of print, how utterly precious must it feel to see that very same work in a book.

I hope I don’t have to wonder for much longer.

I need to move. Forward. I feel the next stage calling.

Wish me luck, sweet bloggy family.

xx Brooke
